Sabino Canyon sits less than fifteen minutes from your door, and it earns every minute of the drive. A perennial creek winds through a desert canyon at the foot of the Santa Catalinas, and the combination of running water, red-tinged rock, and towering saguaro feels quietly improbable, like the landscape is offering you something it had no obligation to give. You can walk as far as you like along smooth paths beside the water, or simply find a boulder near the creek and let the canyon walls hold your attention. The light deepens as it falls between the ridgelines. The stone takes on warmth. It is one of those places that asks very little of you and returns a great deal.

Tohono Chul is a 49-acre botanical garden and nature preserve featuring curated desert gardens, ethnobotanical exhibits, and art installations. Sabino Canyon Recreation Area
Sabino Canyon is a desert canyon at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains featuring a perennial creek, riparian vegetation, and dramatic canyon walls. A 3.8-mile tram road follows the canyon floor past nine stone bridges built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The creek creates pools and small waterfalls during wetter months.
